March posting challenge

Call me crazy, but I just signed up for the NaBloPoMo challenge where you post every single day for a month. I haven't ever done that yet on this blog but I'm gonna try. I've recently seen this on a couple other blogs I came across so I thought I'd check it out and give it a try.

They will be doing optional monthly themes to help with ideas. March's theme is "Lists" which is right up my ally. Always been the list maker. Let's see if I can do it for 31 days straight. Leave me a comment and let me know if you have a list you'd like to see me do. Subject to my approval, of course!

Don't try this at home

I use an electric shaver because I'm a wimp that way and I'm afraid I'll cut myself with a razor. Yesterday afternoon I was using it and did my right leg. Then *kerplunk*. I dropped it. In the toilet. And it just kept running. Didn't even shut off the GFCI protected outlet I had it plugged into. I picked it up by the cord and as it was hanging there, it just kept going. Then I pulled the other end out of the outlet. Not even thinking. I'm surprised I didn't get electrocuted.

My hubby said it must have been insulated quite well to keep running in the water. It used to be my mom's, she gave it to me years ago when I first started shaving. That thing must be like 40 years old. They don't make them like that anymore. And it still worked great. I bought a new one a while back and it didn't do as good a job as this one. I'm bummed. I even considered saving it. I thought maybe it will be ok. The water didn't even affect it. But then I thought better of it and figured better be safe than sorry.

Now since I'm walking around with one shaved and one hairy leg I've got to go find myself a new one. It will never be the same!

Family Portrait

It's not that often that we have a pic taken of all 4 of us. I'm usually holding the camera and am not in many of them! Saturday we went to the park so the kids could go sledding, then we walked out on the frozen lake. We also drove around to the other side and walked on the bridge going over the waterfall that connects the two lakes in town. The kids had fun throwing snow in the water. It was cold but a nice sunny day so it was good to get outside in the sunshine for a bit.

I only took 113 pics in the hour or so we were out there.

So here we are. From left to right is me, hubby, Tiger and Skowt.

Won't ya let me take ya on a Sea Cruise?

Hubby and I have been wanting to take a cruise since before we were married. We wanted to do it for our honeymoon, but couldn't afford it. It's since been pushed back year after year for one reason or another.

Well, we may just get our chance in November on the Rick Springfield and Friends Cruise. Details on the who and what were posted on www.rickspringfield.com yesterday. Details on the cost will be posted sometime this morning. We are waiting for that info to make our final decision.

Who's gonna join us?

Ice, Ice, Baby

I snapped a couple pics of the icicles forming on the SE corner of our house. This was taken Wednesday.

And just two days later on Friday (yesterday).

After this I took the shovel and knocked down as much as I could, didn't want the weight of it damaging the gutters. Who knows what is out there now though. The sun was out all day today and there was some melting going on again.

Frozen Pickle Juice?

I went with my mom to the dentist the other day so that after her appointment we could do lunch and some bumming. While sitting there waiting for her I glanced down at the newspaper sitting there and in it was a short little write up about the Pickle Sickle, a frozen treat made of pickle juice.

I love a me a good pickle. Like those big ones they have at the State Fair and I've often joked about drinking the juice out of the pickle jar. But never thought of freezing it. I'd be willing to try one but it looks like unless you live in the Texas area where they're made you can only order by the box online and they seem a bit pricey.

Your True Love's Name Is

James K.

Thought I'd goof around a little and see who my true love is. Hmm? Not my hubby's name. Don't think he needs to be worried though. I tried this like 5 times and came up with a different name each time. Then as I was copying the code I realized I could just change it to anything I wanted anyway! LOL

What day is it?

The alarm went off at 5:30 this morning. I had no clue what day it was or why the alarm was waking me up.
Do I have to get up for work? I don't think so.
Do I have to get hubby up?
Is it a school day? Am I just getting up to get the kids up for school? Um, yeah. That's it! I think.

I dragged by butt out of bed, put on my slippers and went into the bathroom. Still not quite sure why I was getting up. Then I remembered, yesterday was Sunday and I worked my one day this week. So, yeah, I guess it's Monday.

Ugh, don't ya just hate days like that?

Make it Stop!

Yes, I'm talking about the snow again. I'm so glad I didn't have to work today. The kids are off of school yet again. This is their 3rd snow day. I don't remember having that many in a really long time. At this rate they'll be going to school until July.

Today's the day Rick Springfield was taping the Oprah show in Chicago. I tried to get tickets, but it's virtually impossible to get tickets to see an Oprah taping. It's probably a good thing I didn't get them because I really would have been bummed about not going because of this wicked weather. I am bummed I couldn't go as it is but it would have been worse knowing I had reservations! I hope everyone who was able to go made it there safely. From what I've seen it should be airing next Tuesday Feb 12th.

Bad memory, bad mom?

Tiger asked me the other day what her first word was. Um, I didn't have a clue! How bad am I? So I dug out her baby book to look it up but didn't really find anything. My sitter used to keep a daily log and I saved a few of those sheets. I made a note on one where she was about a year old that she started saying "HI" and some B sounds and Da-Dee instead of DaDa but that's about it. Not sure if that was really her first word or not.

I couldn't remember Skowt's either so I had to dig out her's too. It was bugging me! Since she was the first I was a tad more complete. I did record hers as "stinky". LOL I do remember now. We used to always say that when she needed a diaper change or when taking off her shoes and socks so that's what she picked up.

I do also remember probably shortly after that, we had the tv on and all of a sudden during the commercials she yells out "dot com!" They had just given out their website. It was cute and I remember thinking that wasn't even a phrase when I was a kid and here it's one of my daughter's first words.

She made it!!

WooHoo! Skowt made the volleyball team! She's excited and I'm so proud of her. She was very timid when playing for the Y so I was concerned, but she did it! Now I'll just start worrying about her taking control and monitoring her blood sugar with the added activity. It's always something!

I'm starting to see a little bit of a transformation in her too. She used to just barely brush her hair in the morning and be off for school. Now she's concerned because it's a little frizzy in spots and is trying to control it and actually trying to style her hair more. Putting head bands in it.

She's wearing lip gloss.

She never used to care about where her clothes came from but she mentioned the other day she needed more tops. She feels like she's wearing the same ones over and over. I agree, she could use some more clothes. So I suggested she use her Target giftcard she got for Christmas. "Mom, I don't want clothes from Target!"

I think I'm in trouble! Help! lol

BTW, sorry for any mispellings lately. I can't get the dang spellcheck to work on this thing!
