I can't keep up!

Hi, my name is Lynn and I'm a blogaholic.

I love reading blogs. I think I've become addicted!

But I just can't keep up. lol

Currently I am subscribed to 69 blogs in my Google reader and have 260+ unread entries. I'm constantly finding new ones that look interesting and adding them there so I don't forget and can find them again. Problem is, people just keep blogging and don't let me catch up on my reading.

I'm gonna be gone for 10 days in mid August. I can only imagine what my reader is going to look like after that!

Wanna go for a ride?

Last night while watching Celebrity Family Feud, they mentioned wedgies as part of an answer. That got us talking and laughing a bit about it with Tiger.

Then I said that it reminded me of when they used to give bubbler rides when I was in high school. This sent my mom into an uncontrollable fit of hysterical laughter. She thinks that is the funniest term. "Why do they call it a ride when you're not going anywhere?" She could barely get the words out. Which also got me laughing hysterically.

I started wondering if anyone else had ever heard of them or was it just a Midwest thing, WI thing or just our high school. I looked it up today and the link above states it's mostly just a WI term.

In case you are wondering.........a couple perpetrators walk up to an unsuspecting victim and pick them up, carry them over and sit them on the bubbler (water fountain or drinking fountain) and turn the water on.

Luckily I was never a victim of this heinous crime!

My poor kid!

This morning Tiger got in trouble again for lying to us! At one point my husband who was quite frustrated told her to "go away". He just needed her out of the room before he did or said something he'd regret in the heat of the moment.

That was about 8:30 am. I just went into her room about 10 minutes ago after being out with her most of the morning hunting down a copy of VENUS IN OVERDRIVE. Cuz I just can't wait for my copy to come in the mail! Sorry getting off track here.....

In her room I found a back pack full of clothes, stuffed animals, her wallet and her ipod. She had taken a bunch of posters off her walls and put them in a folder. She was getting ready to leave. She thought he wanted her to literally get out of the house.

I feel so awful now! She's been quite frustrating lately with her lying and getting herself in trouble but we love her like crazy and would NEVER tell her to get out.

Well at least not until she's 18!

Oh and I had to get a lottery ticket this morning..........working on making that dream from the other night a reality! LOL

I won the lottery!!

.........in my dream last night.

Well, me and 9 other people. But rather that split the money we decided to do a survivor-esque vote out to decide who got all the money. How lame is that?

As it was going on I realized how we were voting and figured who was going to be in the last 3 so I went to them and we made a deal to be the last 3 for sure and split the money. We'd all get $30 million each. Yeah, because to split it 10 ways and only get $9 million each just wasn't enough!

Then I started questioning if we really won. So we went online to check the numbers but they weren't posted on the lottery site. We had to enter our numbers to verify that we won. Well, I was so nervous I was shaking and couldn't get it entered correctly and had to keep starting over.

I then made a pact with my cousin for us to watch out for each other and not change and become snobs because of the money.

Then I woke up. So I don't even know for sure if I got any money!

MRI #2 and EMG

Quick update on hubby for anyone interested:

He went for an MRI back in May for a problem he's been having with his shoulder and neck. They just checked his neck at that time and nothing. So he went back for more therapy and he is still having problems so they recommended doing one on his shoulder thinking is was a torn muscle. The doctor also mentioned some type of cyst was a possibility.

He went in on Wednesday for the second MRI and again nothing. He's really starting to get frustrated because he knows something is wrong. He's still having pain and does not have full motion or strength in his arm.

So now they have scheduled him for an EMG. A test that measure the electrical activity of muscles. He's not looking forward to it. I guess it will take about 90 minutes. Let's hope they figure out what's going on this time before he really freaks out! LOL

Driver's Ed with Skowt

We met up with my mom today for lunch after she finished golfing. Since we had two cars there on the way home Tiger wanted to drive (not ride) home with grandma. So I asked Skowt if she was driving with me. The conversation home went something like this:

Skowt: (Who will turn the big 13 next month) Can I drive?
Me: Do you have your license?
Skowt: No!
Me: Do you even know the first thing about how to drive?
Skowt: Well, you get in the car, sit down, close the door, buckle up, turn on the car, put it in drive and go.
Me: Just like that?
Skowt: Yeah, and you should have your hands at 10 and 2.
Me: Oh, really?
Skowt: Yeah mom, 10 and 2. Put your hands at 10 and 2. Not just one hand on 12 like that.
Me: Why not? Isn't it the same? 10 and 2 equal 12.
Skowt: No mom, 10 and 2.

So I put my free hand on 5.

Skowt: Mom, 10 and 2, not 12 and 5.
Me: But 12 and 5 is 17! That's got to be better than 10 and 2, that's only 12!!!

Dirty look from Skowt!

My chips are stale

I mentioned about a week and a half ago that I'm trying to lose a little weight.

One of my biggest food weaknesses is potato chips. I love 'em. I can't eat a sandwich without chips on the side. It's just not right. Gotta have that crunch to go along with it. My mom jokes that she can open a bag from a mile away and I know! I seem to walk in to her house whenever she does.

My favorite kind are Krunchers. Or any other kettle cooked kind.

I decided that to keep myself going I'm not going to give up any of my favorites. I'm just going to eat them in moderation to stay within my point range.....or as close to it as I can. ;)

So this past week instead of having an open bag of chips next to me, I've been weighing out a serving size according to the bag.

That bag of chips freakin lasted FOREVER! Long enough that they were going stale by the end of the bag! Not cool! But I ate them! lol

Hmm? What's worse? No chips or stale chips?

BTW: I got on the scale today after 10 days and I'm down 3.5 lbs. Yay me!

Oh, Doesn't it just figure!?

I was hoping this wouldn't happen! We usually fly Midwest Air when we can. They just announced yesterday that they are cancelling a ton of flights and stopping service to some cities.

One of those cities being Ft. Lauderdale Florida! We just happen to have reservations to Ft. L in November for our cruise. Ugh! I really hope we don't have a problem finding another flight that will coincide with our shuttle service that we already have set up. We'll probably end up paying twice as much but I am NOT missing this cruise! I guess I should at least be glad that we have time to fix this and it didn't happen just days before we were set to leave. That would have been a nightmare!

They are also stopping service to Hartford which is where we fly to when visiting our family in MA. We are headed there next month and luckily they aren't stopping until September so we should be good.

*crossing fingers*

What some people will do for money!

Has anyone watched that new game show Wipeout? My mom and I decided to check it out last night because her golfing buddies said it was hilarious.

It is!

At first I felt bad for laughing at people getting hurt. But then on second thought I realized these people signed up for this. They chose to go on this show and do these ridiculous stunts on national TV for millions of people to watch. What kind of people do this?

I've always thought it would be fun to be on a game show. But some kind of trivia game or something. Not a game where I have to humiliate myself for a chance at the prize money.

Today I have more fun stuff to look forward to. I'm headed out to my gyno visit in about an hour. Fun times!

That's a new one

I don't know why, but I haven't been in the blogging mood the past couple days. Quick someone take my temperature! Maybe it's just that I didn't have any ideas. Sometimes I'll come up with something and think "who wants to read about that anyway?"

So the other day I bought Tiger a new tennis racket. A brand new Air O Sharapova 25. Her other one was getting to be a little small for her. This one came with a cover which she thought was so cool. According the Prince site it also comes with a poster, though ours didn't.

This morning we were heading out for tennis camp and she went ahead to get in the van. When I came out she had the racket strapped in with the seat belt in the seat next to her! I guess you can't take too good care of your new racket.

It's funny I don't remember her ever wanting to strap in any of her stuffed animals or dolls, which would seem a little more normal. Nope she straps in her racket!

That's my kid!

Wish me Luck

I'm gonna need it. Because I may soon starve to death!

Let me explain. I eat like a pig and it needs to stop! Over the past couple years I have slowing been putting on weight. My mom and I decided to try weight watchers. She was a member a few years ago and still has all her books, charts and cookbooks. We aren't going to meetings but will be doing it together.

According to the chart, I am allowed 20-25 points for my weight bracket. What? Who can survive on this? That has to be a misprint!

We started yesterday and I had 35 points. Yup, 10 over. No surprise there that I wasn't able to keep it in my range. And I still went to bed hungry!

But you know what? I'm not gonna sweat it. Because I ate waaaaayyyy less than normal. So the way we figure it, even if we go over a bit here and there, we are still eating less and *should* lose weight. I hope. Just writing it down and keeping track is making me think twice about what goes in my mouth.

The really hard part for me is that I'm such a picky eater! Out of a list of 37 "free" zero point items I will eat about 5 or 6 of them. Notice I said "will eat" them, not "like" them. Pickles I like, but who can survive on pickles? But say lettuce.......I'll eat it on my sandwich, burger, taco, but I'm not one for a salad. It's just too bland to eat a whole bowl of it. And it's not like I'm gonna snack on a head of lettuce while watching my fave tv show!

Writing all this is making me really hungry!

Random bruises

Have you ever found a bruise on your body and had no clue how you got it?

That happens to me all the time. I have one right now on my left knee. The one on my left thigh just healed so it must have been time for a new one. Can't go bruise less for too long now can I?

It looks awful, like it really hurt when I got it. But I have absolutely no recollection of hitting it at all. I was going to post a picture but I couldn't get a good one.

How can I not remember something that must have obviously caused me pain?

Jo Bros concert rocked!

Oh man, I am so tired after last night's Jonas Brothers concert! It was a long afternoon walking around Summerfest and then waiting and waiting for them to let us in the amphitheater. We didn't get home until almost 12:30, then I had to work at 8am. And it was soooooo crowded!!

They do know how to put on a good show. Lots of running and dancing around, Joe and Nick did some flips. At one point they asked if everyone was ready and they all grabbed some type of squirt gun and sprayed the crowd. We thought it was water, but later found out from my friend who was closer that is was some kind of white foam. Shaving cream, maybe? We all enjoyed it the show. Even though we were miles from the stage! lol I even managed to get some half way decent photos. Here's the link:

http://s351.photobucket.com/albums/q465/skowt15/2008%2007%2006%20Jonas%20Brothers/

Before the guys came out their dad came on stage and said they had been on myspace that morning and read a message from a girl who got tickets for the show for her sweet 16 and they wanted to find her and upgrade her seats! How sweet! He also said they heard how many fans had waited for hours to get on the lawn seats so they sent some guys up to pick 2 fans to come down front.

One of the coolest things of the night was when we were walking back to the parking lot. There were a bunch of people walking in the road just outside the festival. We heard sirens and security started shooing people out of the way back on to the sidewalk. Then a couple motorcycle cops drove by. We thought there was something going on up ahead and were expecting an ambulance to follow. Well, we turned around to look and here comes their tour bus with the lights on inside and all 3 guys standing up in front near the driver looking out and waving to people. You could hear screams travel down the road as the bus drove ahead.

It was a fun night!

Day at the Zoo

We spent the afternoon at the zoo today. It was a perfect day for it, sunny and low 70s with a nice breeze. I think this penguin agrees. He was chillin' and sunning himself. You can't see it but there was a light stream of water spraying him.
I took quite a few photos so I'll be posting some over the next few days on my photoblog

Public Restrooms

Can someone explain to me why just about every time I use a public restroom I have to contort my body into positions I never thought imaginable just to get the toilet paper off the roll?

Who decided it was convenient to put the dispenser further back on the wall than where the toilet seat is? Probably a man who stands when he pees!

Not to mention the fact that before you can even go you have to practically stand on the toilet so you can get the door closed behind you!

Just my little gripe for the day after spending the day shopping and having a few tp issues!

I'd like to thank the academy........

I've just received my very first blog award! I'm blushing can you tell?

Thank you so much to my blogging friend Amy over at Escape To Thought for giving this to me. I've really been enjoying your blog too!

Here are the rules:
If you already have the award just accept and that's all you have to do.
1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award.
4. The award winner and one who has given the prize have to show the link "
Arte y Pico" blog so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5. Show these rules.

I'm gonna start right off by breaking rule number 1 because I have 3 I want to award. I'm a rebel.

1. Write One Two Amy's is one of the first blogs I started reading and it inspired me to start my own. She's a writer and has some projects planned for the summer so go check her out.

2.
Pink Painted Lady I found this Amy's blog through her myspace page. She has 7 kids (count 'em 7!) and still finds the time to cook and share a recipe or two!

3. The News From Sooz Another one of the first blogs I ever started reading (she started over on myspace and while she continues that has also started this one). A very witty, funny gal!
